I remember that the last time I went to Rome I went to Harry's Bar in Veneto St. the Excelsior Hotel, and the Hotel D'Inghilterra as I had read that Hemingway and Liszt had stayed there. Those places were fine, expensive but fine. I would love to hear any other recomendations though. There's an outside deck or indoor seating available, and the music is low enough for easy conversation without yelling. Specializes in cocktails featuring Amari.</div><div class="writeup"><p>We've gone here twice; so far, haven't seen Justin Pike behind the bar. Devin Espinosa, who also runs the Hatchi Mix series at Breadbar, has been our bartender both times we visited. Based on two visits, I think this is one of the few places I've been that really competes with Varnish in Downtown LA, and if it were a little closer, I'd probably visit a lot more often. A Vieux Carré here was one of the best I've tried. Their "4 Square" is one of the few Campari drinks I can stomach, and is surprisingly balanced considering how much Campari is in it. Devin doesn't have as encyclopedic knowledge of obscure classics as some bartenders, and some of the drinks I've had slant a little towards the sweet side, but overall he makes well balanced drinks which are mixed properly, and the quality was consistent across both of our visits. Though I've only been to each of them once, I give this place a slight edge over both Copa D'Oro and Tar Pit.</p> <br /> <p>I also like the fact that they make a lot of their own drams, bitters, and garnishes. This is where we are trying to build up a nice set of regional bars and restaurants which are being specifically recommended to traveling cocktailians.</p> <p>Please check out the list, especially <a target="_self" href="http://chanticleersociety.org/Guide/Map.aspx">the map</a>, which makes it easy to find place near where you may be traveling.</p> <p>Your first order of business of course is to look at what bars might be listed in your area, we are getting a decent scattering of locations around the world, but I'm sure that there are a lot more that our members should be aware of.</p> <p>If your area appears to be left out of the list, take a little time to think about the bars you would almost insist that a visiting cocktailing would need to visit in order to find those great cocktail bars around you. And after familiarizing yourself with the <a target="_self" href="http://chanticleersociety.org/guide/overview.aspx">overview</a>,  <a target="_self" href="http://chanticleersociety.org/guide/CreateEditSubmission.aspx">submit a new location</a>.
